Dr. Tomas Ramirez

Dr. Tomas Ramirez serves as the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Director for the Clarke County School District, bringing more than 38 years of experience in education and a lifelong commitment to student success, leadership development, and workforce readiness. Throughout his career, Dr. Ramirez has been a passionate advocate for educational leadership, Latino student success, community partnerships, and creating pathways that prepare students for thriving futures.

A dedicated servant leader, Dr. Ramirez extends his impact beyond the classroom through active involvement in numerous community organizations, including The Classic City Rotary Club of Athens, Scouting America’s Northeast Georgia Council, Envision Athens, and Athens Achieves. He currently leads the Youth Services Committee for The Classic City Rotary Club of Athens, helping connect young people with opportunities for growth, leadership, and service.

Dr. Ramirez's educational journey reflects his deep commitment to learning and leadership. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Brown University, a Master of Education in Bilingual-Bicultural Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration from Rhode Island College, and later completed a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at the University of Connecticut. As a first-generation college graduate, he understands firsthand the transformative power of education and the importance of creating opportunities for future generations.

His leadership and service have been recognized through numerous honors, including the Robert M. Goodrich Distinguished Public Service Award, the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award, and the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for exceptional volunteer service.

When he is not supporting students and educators, Dr. Ramirez enjoys science fiction books and films, traveling, following the Boston Celtics, and revisiting one of his favorite books, The Little Prince. Through his work with GALAS, he remains dedicated to developing future Latino leaders and expanding opportunities for students and communities across Georgia.
