On October 17, 2026, the Georgia Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (GALAS) celebrated becoming official—a proud moment for our organization and the community helping bring its vision to life.
For our founding board, members, and supporters, this milestone represents the dedication, conversations, and relationships that have brought us together. It also marks the beginning of our next chapter: turning a shared vision for Latino leadership in education into lasting opportunities for connection and growth.
A Community with a Purpose
Across Georgia, Latino educators bring valuable experience, cultural understanding, and a deep commitment to the students and families they serve. GALAS creates a space for these leaders to connect, share knowledge, and support one another.
There is power in having colleagues who understand your journey. A conversation can lead to a partnership. A word of encouragement can inspire someone to pursue a leadership role. An experienced administrator can help an emerging leader see possibilities they had not yet imagined.
We want GALAS to be a community where those connections take root—and where a commitment to students gives them purpose.
Representation That Opens Doors
When students see leaders who share aspects of their language, culture, or lived experience, they can envision new possibilities for themselves. When educators see pathways to leadership, they can begin to imagine their own next steps.
GALAS seeks to strengthen that sense of possibility by amplifying Latino voices and supporting professional growth. Our members bring distinct perspectives and experiences, united by a belief that strong educational leadership can expand opportunities for students, families, and communities.
The relationships we build within GALAS can also strengthen the relationships between our schools and the communities they serve. Listening, sharing experiences, and learning from one another will be essential to that work.
Built Together, Moving Forward Together
This milestone belongs to everyone who has contributed time, ideas, encouragement, and trust to GALAS. We are grateful to our founding board, members, and supporters for helping build the foundation of this organization.
As we look ahead, our purpose remains clear: to connect leaders, encourage collaboration, and create opportunities for others to grow. We look forward to welcoming new voices and building partnerships with people who share that commitment.
There is much to celebrate—and meaningful work ahead. We are proud to begin this next chapter together.
